Mary Kathleen Riddle Richards, 83, of Rockwood, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013, at her home.

She was born April 8, 1930. She was a lifetime resident of Rockwood and graduated from Rockwood High School in 1948 and was a member of the National Honors Society. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved reading her Bible and enjoyed gospel music. She attended Rockwood First Presbyterian Church as a child. She was a longtime member of Glen Alice Christian Church and attended the Mountain View Church of Christ. She retired from Kayser-Roth. She was preceded in death by daughter, Linda Richards Carter; former husband, Ralph D. Richards; parents, Joseph and Mattie Riddle; siblings, J.D., Eddie and Betty Riddle; special aunt, Ruby Riddle; and sons-in-law, Edward L. Carter Jr. and Michael A. Trew.
Survivors include children, Rebecca Trew Clower (Hoyt), Rockwood, Derita Redmon, Rockwood, Ross David Richards (Connie), Harriman, and Carol Nix (Craig), Kingston; grandson whom she raised, Mark Carter (Stacy), Rockwood; grandchildren, Chuckie and Tony Tidwell, Jason and David Trew, Amanda Cofer (Mark), Beth Fink, Daniel and Kara Richards, Ben Nix (Krista) and Carrie Nix; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue Blye (Jim), Chattanooga, and Libby Jenkins, Hartselle, Ala.; and brother-in-law, Alton Richards (Molly), Kingston.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 7, in Evans Mortuary, Rockwood. The service followed in the chapel at 8 p.m., with Ben Nix officiating. Burial was at Glen Alice Cemetery at 11 a.m. Monday, July 8.
