Opal Janette Marlow Gamble, 97, passed from this life into Heaven, Friday evening, Jan. 26, 2018, at The Bridge at Rockwood.
For the last 13 months, she has been cared for by an awesome team of nurses and caregivers there. "Nighttime was when she was most alert and, oh, the mischievousness we were told she got into," the family said. Everyone is appreciated, but the night nurses deserve special accolades. They really had to be creative in her care, and there is no doubt they loved her. Also special thanks to Dr. Wakham for lifting us in prayer the night of her passing. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, the Rev. Elbert Roscoe Gamble Sr.; son, Ray Gamble; infant daughter, Della Mae Gamble; her father and mother, Charlie and Grace Marlow; three brothers; and two sisters. She was the last living sibling of six.
Survivors include two sons and three daughters-in-law, Gene and Carol Gamble, E. R. "Bug" Gamble Jr. and Amy Gamble, all of Kingston, and Phyllis Gamble, Farmington, Ark.; special niece and caregiver, Wanda Richards, Kingston; nine grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren plus one due in May 2018.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, in Kyker Funeral Home Chapel in Kingston. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Gamble, the Rev. Ray Bearden and the Rev. Jeff Plemons officiating. Burial will be at Chapman Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association or a . www.kykerfuneralhomes.com
