Peggy Lou Avery, 79, of Kingston, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at U. T. Medical Center, Knoxville.
She was born Nov. 23, 1938, in Harriman and had been a resident of Roane County for over 25 years. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Peggy dearly loved her family and treasured each moment spent with them. She loved to volunteer at Clothes Closet, spending time with her dear friends there. Some of her favorite times were spent going places with her sisters. She was also an avid reader and loved cooking. She was preceded in death by her mother, Winnie Clark; father, Jesse Clark; and brother, Jesse Clark Jr.
Survivors include loving husband of 60 years, Edward A. Avery, Kingston; son, Blake Avery (Katie), Sweetwater; daughter, Yvonne Boswell, Kingston; grandchildren, William Avery, Emily Boswell, John Penny (Amber), Amanda Moore (Adam), Danielle Burkhart (John), and Zebullon Gideon Avery; great-grandchildren, Patricia, Kathryn, Ava, Isaac, Seth, Caraline, Eliza and Bennett; sisters, Bea Pogue, Harriman, Thelma Grubb, Harriman, and Ann Melhorn, Petros; sisters-in-law, Naomi Avery, Johnstown, N.Y., and Beulah Clark, Harriman; brother-in-law, Ray Melhorn, Joyner community; and a host of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11-1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Liberty Baptist Church with home going celebration following at 1 p.m. in the church sanctuary with the Rev. Randy Griffis officiating. Interment will follow the service at Childs Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to , 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
