Ralph Wendell Garrett, age 85, of Harriman, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly, on Oct. 12, 2012. He was of the Baptist faith. Wendell was born on March 11, 1927 in Gobey, Tenn. He was a devoted husband and father. A World War II Navy Veteran. Wendell was a longtime entrepreneur. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Iris Garrett; brother and sister-in-law, Norman and June Garrett; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Joe Huling and Walter, Betty Walters and Johnny.

Left to grieve is his loving wife, Joan Garrett; son, Dan Michael Garrett and wife Carol; daughters, Wende Jones, Cindy Roberts, Brigitte Gibson; son-in-law: Scott Miller; sisters: Margaret Wright and husband Barney, Elaine Brown and husband Wayne; eight grandchildren, Isaac, Franchesca, Wyatt, Garrett, Nathan, Griffin, Danielle and Campbell; along with several nieces, nephews and several special friends & family members.
The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, in Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services followed with Dan Michael Garrett officiating. Graveside services with full Military Honors was Tuesday at Roane Memorial Gardens, Rockwood.
Pallbears: Louis Brown, Doe Huling, Isaac Gibson, Wyatt Gibson, Garrett Jones and Scott Miller.
