Richard Earl Cox, 66, passed away while sleeping sometime in the early morning on Thursday, July 25, 2013.
He was a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, served proudly and continued after his tour to work on Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii as a civilian. After some years and feeling homesick, he returned to Knoxville in 1985.
He is survived by his sisters, Jo Beth Cox-Rebori, and Rebecca Lawhon Caronna and husband Bob Caronna; nieces, Allie Caronna Bays, Rachele Rebori Potter and husband Edward Potter, and Antonia Lizbeth Rebori.
A graveside service was at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Hwy., Knoxville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to either the or the American Diabetes Association. Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel, Knoxville, was in charge of arrangements.
