Stephen Michael Lawson, 52, of Kingston, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 22, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.
He worked at SECO Tools as a certified machinist. He was also an avid sportsman and enjoyed golfing, fishing and umpiring baseball all over East Tennessee.ÊHe was president of the Clinch Valley Umpires Association and a 22-year member of the TSSAA.
He was of the Baptist faith and attended Liberty Baptist Church in Kingston with his family as long as his health permitted.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Dean Lawson; his father-in-law, Jack Mowery; his grandfather, Martin Moore; and his grandparents, Tilman and Ida Lawson.
Survivors include his loving wife, Anita Mowery Lawson, Kingston; two children, Tabitha Lawson, Kingston, and Justin Lawson and wife Carol, Oak Ridge; his mother, Aileen Lawson Hammett, Kingston; his grandmother, Luella Moore Powell, Kingston; twin sisters, Karen L. Tucker and husband Tim, Kingston, and Sharon Long and husband Dennis, Kingston; his mother-in-law, Dean Mowery, Harriman; three grandchildren, Dallas Dyer, Kingston, and Colby and Cailyn Grace Lawson, Oak Ridge; 'honorary grandchild,' Alexuis Marcum, Harriman; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of very special friends.
The family received friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 24, in Liberty Baptist Church. The funeral followed at 7 p.m. in Liberty Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Griffis officiating. Family and friends met at 10 a.m. Monday, June 25, at Fraker Funeral Home, Kingston, to go in procession to Calvary Hazelwood Cemetery in Kingston for an 11 a.m. graveside service.
