Verdon Dale DeRossett, 80, of Rockwood, passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, in Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville.

He was born Nov. 3, 1932, in Cumberland County to Marvin Jesse "Jethro" and Lenice Tennessee Evans DeRossett. He was a member of Daysville Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Jesse and Lenice DeRossett; sons, Gregory Dale DeRossett and Patrick Alan DeRossett; brothers, Richard, Roger and Glenn DeRossett; and sisters, Willis Fagan and Marie Spivey.
Survivors include his wife, Deloris "Dee" DeRossett, Rockwood; son, Marty DeRossett, Rockwood; daughter, Sheila DeRossett, Rockwood; son, Darren DeRossett, Rockwood; eight grandchildren, Jamie McCloud, Jesse DeRossett, Christy DeRossett, Lara DeRossett, Casey DeRossett, Ashley Walters, Amanda DeRossett and Darla Nichols; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Dallas DeRossett, Hendersonville; host of many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Evans Mortuary, Rockwood. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Evans Mortuary, with the Rev. Hascue Carter officiating. Graveside service and burial will be at noon Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Daysville Cemetery, with military honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard.
