Virgil Wesley Jenkins, 86, of the Poplar Springs community, Kingston, passed away Thursday morning, April 4, 2013, in Roane Medical Center.

He was a member of Poplar Springs Primitive Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan of all Kingston sports teams. He enjoyed working on his farm. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Stella Jenkins; sisters, Carrie Farmer, Lela Mathis, Maude Galyon, Hazel Guettner and Betty Abbott; and brothers, Roy, Kenneth and Carl Jenkins.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alma Jenkins; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Henry Tupis; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Martha Jenkins; grandchildren, Nathan Tupis, Adam Tupis, Andrew Jenkins and Sarah Jenkins; sisters, Laura Belle Wright and Ruth Bohannon; several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 5, in Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in Poplar Springs Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Ronnie Inman and Elder Danny McGee officiating. Burial followed at Kingston Memorial Gardens.
