Vona Conger, 95, of Harriman, passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, in Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center, Harriman.

She was born Aug. 7, 1918, in Anderson, Ala., to Robert Charles Lewis and Ida Mae Johnson Lewis. She was a member of Harriman Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Thurston Conger Sr.; sisters, Inez Gould and Lorene Blann; and brothers, Charles Milton Lewis, William Leamon Lewis, Harold Alton Lewis and Vernon Henry Lewis.
Survivors include children, Thurston Conger Jr. and wife Karen, Tehachapi, Calif., Linda Bradford, Harriman, Barbara Bradshaw, Harriman, Glenn Conger and wife Evelyn, Knoxville, Wanda Galyon, Harriman, and Randy Conger and wife Chris, Newmanstown, Pa.; grandchildren, Michelle Clough and husband Darren, Kaarstin Conger-Regpalla and husband Michael, Angie Chesser and husband Jeremy, and Amanda Klopp and husband Jay; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Janice Thomas, Franklin, and Betty Kennedy, Ava, Mo.; brother, Howard Lewis, Perryton, Texas; a host of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends met at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at Roane Memorial Gardens, Rockwood, for graveside services and burial, with Minister Freeman Hicks officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Harriman Church of Christ. Evans Mortuary, Rockwood, was in charge of arrangements. An online register is available at www.evansmortuary.biz.
