William Clyde Coward, 88, of Fort White, Fla., formerly of Knoxville, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014, in Fort White.

He was born in Martel, Tenn., a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy, and was also a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Mr. Coward was a certified public accountant and worked in several states in the Southeast, including Tennessee, South Carolina and Texas. He retired in the 1990s to Fort White to join his brother and nephew after Hurricane Andrew.
He was active in his church work and veterans affairs.
He was preceded in death by wife, Olga Chollett Coward, Dickinson, Texas.
He is survived by a sister, Nadine S. Bardill, Maryville; a nephew, John T. Coward, O'Brien, Fla.; a niece, Connie C. Kennedy, Ooltewah; as well as several other family members in both Tennessee and Texas.
There was a graveside service at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at Roane Memorial Gardens, Rockwood, with Pastor James G. White of Atlanta as the officiant.
There will be a memorial service in O'Brien at The Northern Florida Christian Center Church, 216 St., O'Brien, at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10; the Rev. Retha Garten and the Rev. Jason Ashley will be officiating.
