Wilma Charlene Phillips, 79 of Rockwood, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, with her family by her side. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She and her husband, John C. Phillips, owned and operated Phillips Salvage in Rockwood for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband: John C. Phillips; a son, Gary Phillips; a daughter, Carolynn Phillips; a brother, Thurman "T.L." Hickman; and a sister, Sue Becktell. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, JoAnn and Clarence Sampson, Harriman, Vicky and Stanley Reed, Rockwood, and Melissa Griffis, Harriman; a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Tina Phillips, Rockwood; a brother, Sammie Hickman, Rockwood; five sisters, Willie Melton, Sunrise, Fla., Janie Cline, Phillipsburg, Ohio, Joyce Crespo, Reno, Nev., Jewel Chapman, Huntington Beach, Calif., and Norma Chapman of Pomona, Calif.; her grandchildren, Larry and Angie Williams, Brad and Tonya Williams, all of Harriman, Kristy Rhoads, Rockwood, Mindy and Brad Davis, Harriman, Justin Butler, Knoxville, Jessie Phillips, Roan Mountain, and Brady and Kaylee Griffis, Harriman; great-grandchildren, Dustin and Chelsey McNew, Kristen McNew, Samuel and Jacob Hansen, Isaac and Caleb Davis and Eli Williams, all of Harriman; and a great-great grandson, Cooper McNew, Harriman. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, in Davis Funeral Home, Harriman. Funeral services followed at 8 p.m., with the Rev. Patricia Mendez officiating.
