George Puckett, 67, of Kingston, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 11, 1946, and was a 1964 graduate of Roane County High School, then to Tennessee Tech University, being drafted into the United States Army in 1967 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. George was a faithful member of New Midway Baptist Church. He retired from Kingston TVA Steam Plant as a unit operator with over 35 years of service. He was a member of the TVA-IBEW Local No. 365. George loved feeding wildlife in his yard and enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid collector. He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Puckett Sr.
Survivors include his loving wife, Collene Puckett, Kingston; children, Michael Puckett and wife Stephanie, Kingston, Heather Backus and husband Rob, Kingston, Austin Puckett and wife Amber, Harriman, Marcus Williams, Kingston, and Tiffany Allen and husband John, Chesapeake, Va.; stepchildren, Adam Pipkin and Sara Cupp, both of Knoxville; 14 grandchildren; brothers, Don Puckett and wife Sissy, Kingston, and Robert Puckett and wife Fran, Kingston; sisters, Ann Branam and husband Bob, Harriman, and Carolyn Backus, Kingston; special friends, Scotty Bolden, Larry Bolden and the staff at Thompson Cancer Survivors Center; a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday in New Midway Baptist Church, with service following at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary, with the Rev. Larry Bolden and the Rev. Rod Garrett officiating. Graveside service will immediately follow at New Midway Baptist Church Cemetery. An online register book can be signed at Fraker Funeral Home, Kingston, is in charge of arrangements.
