Lorene Nelson, 84, a resident of Harriman and formerly of Oliver Springs, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at The Bridge at Rockwood.
Lorene was born Feb. 9, 1930, in LaFollette. At an early age, she and her family moved to Oliver Springs, where she continued to live until her move to Harriman in 2007.
Mrs. Nelson was a faithful Christian and a member of New Fairview Baptist Church.
She retired from Roane Hosiery following 40 years of employment. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vander and Martha Parrott Murray; her husband, Clifford Nelson; a daughter, Sue Ward; a grandson, Jimmy Bolden; sisters, Lenore Collins, Lucille Campbell, Myrtle Woods and Barbara Marshall; and brothers, Charles and Gene Murray.
Mrs. Nelson is survived by three daughters, Joanne Crowe and husband Leroy, Mentone, Ala., Janie Webster, Harriman, and Sharon Massengill and husband James, Harriman; grandchildren, John Crowe and wife Melissa, Daniel Crowe, Chris Massengill and wife Alisha, Trampas Ward and wife Jill, and Tabitha Breeden and husband Roger; and great-grandchildren, Kayley, Wyatt, Ian, Ethan and Emily Crowe, Hannah and Carter Massengill, Tyler Evans, Mason and McKinzie Breeden, and Brantley Diggs.
She is also survived by brothers, Dale Murray and wife Geneva, Harriman, and Bob Murray and wife Loretta, Harriman; a son-in-law, Terry Ward, Harriman; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends.
The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, July 14, in Sharp Funeral Home, Oliver Springs. Graveside services and burial followed at 2:30 p.m. at New Fairview Cemetery, Oliver Springs. An online guest book is available at www.sharpfh.com.
