Betty Challies Hale, 84, of Rockwood, passed away at Parkwest hospital in Knoxville on Tuesday, July 29, 2014.
Mrs. Hale was member of Clymersville Baptist Church in Rockwood, where she was a choir member and soloist. She also was accomplished pianist and organist. Betty was retired from Roane Hosiery Mill in Harriman, where she worked as a mender. She loved and cared very much for her family. She was a wife, mom and grandmother to her family. She was preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Myrtle Scandlyn; brother, Don Scandlyn; and sister, Margie Haun.
She is survived by husband, George David Hale, Rockwood; son, David Michael Hale, Rockwood; daughter, Diane Loeffler (Dale), Wisconsin; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Wilma Ingleburger (James), Estel Springs, Tenn.; several nieces, nephews, along with many friends; and special friends, Gladys and Robert Ford and Connie Sylvester.
Arrangements are as follows: Thursday, July 31, in the chapel of Evans Mortuary, Rockwood â€" the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m.; funeral will follow at 6 p.m., with the Rev. Harold Newby and Bro. Tom Abston officiating. Concluding services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Midtown.
