Earmel Locke Doughty, 97, of Rockwood, passed away at Renaissance Terrace Center in Harriman on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014.
Mrs. Doughty was born Feb. 3, 1917, to John and Margaret McCaleb Locke in Meigs County. Mrs. Earmel was a life member of Hickory Flats Missionary Baptist Church in Meigs County. Mrs. Doughty worked all her life, as she owned and operated a beauty salon, dry cleaners and was manager of the cafeteria at Campbell High School in Rockwood. She was a loving aunt and friend to all who came in contact with her. Earmel was preceded in death by parents, John and Margaret McCaleb Locke; husband, Glen H. Doughty; twin brother, Ernest Locke; brothers, John Locke, James Locke, Fred Locke, George Locke and Lee Martin; and sisters, Viola Moore and Hattie Caldwell.
She is survived by caregiver, Ruby Moore, Sweetwater; host of nieces, great-nieces, great-great-nieces, great-great-great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-great-nephews and great-great-great-nephews; many friends in the Roane County and Rockwood communities.
Funeral and visitation services are announced as: Saturday, Aug. 9, in the chapel of Evans Mortuary in Rockwood â€" family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m.; funeral followed, with the Rev. Brady Springs and the Rev. LeRoy Bowman officiating. Concluding services and interment were at noon at Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood. The family wishes to thank everyone for all of the prayers and acts of kindness during Earmel's sickness.
