A.J. Emerson Potter, 85, of Rockwood, passed away on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, in The Bridge at Rockwood.
Mr. Potter was a member of Piney Baptist Church in Oakdale. He was an insulator for Olin Chemicals for 20 years, and then owned and operated Pine Orchard Greenhouse for many years. Mr. Potter was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was preceded in death by parents, Claude and Doskie Potter; and wife, Ann Potter.
He is survived by daughters, Janet "Jan" Roddy (John), Oakdale, and Phyllis Langley (Greg), Rockwood; brother, Junior Lee Potter (Belle), Rockwood; three grandchildren, Michael Roddy, Birmingham, Ala. Travis Langley (Robyn), Rockwood, and Stacy Ruppe (Matt), Rockwood; five great-grandchildren, Carson Ruppe, Lorelai Langley, Addy Ruppe, Josiah Langley and Hunter Biglin; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Arrangements are as follows: Thursday, Aug. 14, in Piney Baptist Church at Oakdale â€" Family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m.; funeral will be at 6 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Travis Langley and the Rev. Pat McGee officiating. Concluding and interment services will follow the funeral at Piney Baptist Church Cemetery next to the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Mr. Potter to Piney Baptist Church Building Fund, 345 Piney Church Road, Oakdale, TN 37829. Evans Mortuary, Rockwood, was in charge of arrangements.
