Jerry Mashburn, 72, of Wartburg, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, after a long battle of illness.

Mr. Mashburn was of the Baptist Church faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict era. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and playing golf. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by parents, Nellie June Putnam and Willard Mashburn; brother, Edward Mashburn; and granddaughter, Rebecca Wagner.
He is survived by wife of 43 years, Judy K. Mashburn of Wartburg; daughters, Faith Helton (Danny) of Oakdale, Karey Bowers of Dalton, Ga. and Kathy Ledford (Johnny) of Copperhill; sons, Jerry Mashburn (Pamela) of Hartselle, Ala. and Bill Mashburn (Jill) of Suwanee, Ga.; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Green of North Carolina and Sandy Peace of Georgia; several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Funeral and visitation arrangements are as follows: Tuesday, Aug. 26, family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. John Underwood officiating. Concluding services and interment will be on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 1 p.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery, Rockwood, with full military honors by the U. S. Army Honors and Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard. Evans Mortuary of Rockwood is serving the family of Mr. Ralph Jerry Mashburn.
