Evelyn Carson Mankel, age 72, of Wheat Ridge, Colo., formerly of Rockwood, passed away Nov. 9, 2012 in Topeka, Kan.

She was a lifelong member of Rockwood First Presbyterian Church. She was a retired CPA with U.S. West Communications; she operated her own CPA tax service for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by parents, Judson and Helen Carson; and stepdaughter, Susan Mankel Fefolt.
She is survived by husband, retired Lt. Col. George W. Mankel Jr., Rockwood; stepchildren, George W. Mankel III, Lexington, Ky., and retired Lt. Col. Eric Mankel, Lillington, N.C.; son-in-law, David Fefolt, Gilbert, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Martha Phelps (James), Raton, N.M., and Jeanette Hedgecock (Larry), Littleton, Colo.; and three nephews.
Visitation and funeral services will be as follows: the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, and from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, with Monsignor Xavier Mankel officiating. Burial and concluding services will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Rockwood, following the funeral service on Monday, Nov. 19. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to either Rockwood First Presbyterian Church's Women's Association; or Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Knoxville, building fund. Evans Mortuary, Rockwood, is in charge of arrangements.
