J.W. "Pat" Rector, 91, of Rockwood, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, in Rockwood.

He was born July 5, 1921. in Napier, Tenn., to John F. and Zena Smith Rector. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Iran in Company C, 762nd Railroad Battalion. He retired from Roane Electric Furnace in Rockwood and was a member of Community Baptist Church in Rockwood. He was a loving dad and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Anderson Rector; son, Bruce Blank; grandson, Jeff Melton; brothers, Clifton Rector, Otis Rector and Vernon "Goose" Rector; and sisters, Georgia Hickey and Ann Dabbs.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Wayne Powers, Rockwood; grandchildren, Annette Kindred, Rockwood, and Greg Melton and wife Tammy, Oakdale; great-grandchildren, Casey Stooksbury and husband Bradley, Knoxville, Zachary Melton and Austin Melton, both of Oakdale, Shannon Kindred, Marlana Melton and Gracie Melton, all of Rockwood; great-great-grandchildren, Drew and Alex Stooksbury, Knoxville; special nephew and niece, Jim and Debbie Dabbs, Rockwood; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were at noon Saturday, Nov. 17, at Roane Memorial Gardens, Rockwood, with the Rev. Ben Whittenbarger officiating. Full military honors were offered by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard and the Tennessee Army National Guard. Evans Mortuary, Rockwood, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Rockwood Baptist Church youth program. An online register is available at www.evansmortuary.biz.
