Harrell Earl 'Pat' Patterson of the Dyllis Community, passed away at home on Nov. 22, 2012.
He was 89 and was much loved by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ella Gladys Knight Patterson; brother, Mack, Donald, Ralph and Tyrone Patterson.
Survivors include wife, Lee Patterson, Dyllis; children, Brent Patterson, Rockwood, Michael Patterson (Kathy), Owensboro, KY, Laura Ayers (James), Knoxville; grandchildren, Stacy Ledford (Richard), Adairsville, GA, Semea Guinn (Stephen), Kingston, Brandon Patterson (Sydney), Rockwood, Shila Wright (Andrew), Signal Mountain, Shanda Coffey, Knoxville, Shay Patterson, Marietta, GA, Scarlett and Jackson Ayers, Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Kristen and Kaylee Patterson, Andrew, Madison, Emma, Josie and Brody Wright, Kambria and Kaden Coffey, Bailey Guinn, Scarlett Ledford; brother, Charles Patterson (Joyce); sisters, Nell Newman, Mae Hawkins, Benton Phillips (Roger), and Jean Altman; other family members who loved Pat were Willa and Charles Thomasson, and Linda Overstreet.
Pat worked at the Y-12 Weapons Complex for 40 years, from 1945 to retirement in 1985. He was a long-time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Rockwood. He loved his family, nature, gardening and music; and took particular delight in making up rhymes. He was known for entertaining stories from his youth, especially by his grandchildren.
The family received friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at Evans Mortuary. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Oak Ridge Memorial Park Chapel.
