Teddy Monday, 70, of Rockwood, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 21, 1942, in Rockwood to James & Lou Ella Cunningham Pierce Monday. He was a devoted church worker and member of First Baptist Church, Rockwood, and a member of IBEW. He retired from Rockwood Electric Utility after 30 years as a lineman. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Monday and Lou Ella Cunningham Pierce; brother, Charles Monday; sister, Virginia Moore; and grandmother, Maude Cunningham.
Survivors include wife, Carolyn Ryans Monday of Rockwood; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Tammy Monday of Rockwood; daughter, Kim Monday of Rockwood; daughter and son-in-law, Jeff and Kristy Melson of Rockwood; grandchildren, McKinley and Emily Melson, Megan Monday; mother-in-law, Reba Ryans Hancock of Rockwood; sisters, Margaret Templeton and husband Ricky of Gallatin; step-mother, Carolyn Monday of Rockbridge; special family, Nathan, Pam and Carlye Cole, Lindsey Gulmire and husband Spencer, Blakely Gulmire, Kaiden Gurney, all of Rockwood; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Jack and Louise Woodall of Kingston; nephew, Eddie Moore of Murfreesboro; nieces, Karen Kirkland of Crossville, Kathy Rickman of Maryville, Kathy Beal of Dandridge, Beth Monday, Plattsville.
The family received friends Sunday, Dec. 9, at the First Baptist Church, Rockwood, from 2 to 6 p.m. The service followed at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Rick Roberts and the Rev. Tim Ogle officiating. Burial and interment will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery Monday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m. The family requests memorials may be made to Big Emory Association, P.O.
