Linda Lou Gamble Carr, 64, formerly of Kingston, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at home surrounded by her family.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother known by all as "Memaw."
Daughter of the late Ernest and Naomi Gamble, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Carr; daughter, Linda Miles; sister, Helen Stewart; and brother, Harold Gamble.
She is survived by brother, Terry and Cindy Gamble; daughters, Katherine Carr, Virginia Beach, Va., Tina and Richard Duncan, Yorktown, Va., and Rosemary Carr, Sarasota, Fla.; son, Jamie Carr; grandchildren, Alexis Tiefert, Tiffany Ferraiolo, Dawn Duncan and Alan Duncan; great-grandson, Dalton Tiefert; and many extended family members.
She worked in food and beverage and was a devout and loving military wife for more than 20 years. After retiring, she and her husband became foster parents, molding the lives of more than 90 children.
Her great passions in life were her family, playing the piano, reading books and playing with her great-grandson. Her door was always open with good food, ears to listen, helping hands and love to give.
Burial services will be at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10. Amory Funeral Home, Yorktown, is in charge of arrangements.
