Betty Lou Williams, 93, of The Hermitage of Roanoke, and formerly of Clifton Forge, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at the nursing home. She was born in Clifton Forge on May 7, 1920, a daughter of the late Jasper Hanna Williams and Annie Surber Williams. Betty Lou was a retired school teacher
from the Alleghany Highlands School System and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gama society. She was previously a member of the Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church and more recently attended the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Roanoke. She loved to travel and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by two cousins, Beth McDaniel and husband, Ronald, of Lynchburg and their family, Matthew and Katherine McDaniel, and by Debbie Wilson and husband, Daniel, of Pearisburg and family, Jason Kelly Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jasper Hanna "Jack" Williams Jr.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013, from Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge with the Rev. John Furman officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends Saturday at Nicely Funeral Home from 1:30 p.m. until time of service.
