Betty Pace Carrington, 85, of Roanoke, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Marvin B. Pace and Nell Frazier Pace. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William "Willie" Washington Carrington Jr. Betty was a socialite and was best known for her outgoing and outspoken personality. She enjoyed meals out with family and friends, entertaining neighbors on her porch, shopping and visiting her friends around town. She was talented with needlepoint, loved crossword puzzles, and was always up for a good conversation. She cherished her time with her four daughters and her grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Boma."
Betty is survived by her four daughters, Beth and Tom Markelon, of Freeport, Maine, Cathy and Larry Krestalude, of St. Augustine, Fla., Judy Neal, of Roanoke, and Nancy Brammer, of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2013, at Oakey's South Chapel followed by a Graveside Service at Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke with the Reverend Gary Robbins officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Oakey's South Chapel.
