Leroy Parker, 64, of Roanoke, Va., departed this life on Monday, April 15, 2013. He was born on November 12, 1948, the son of the late James Owen Sr. and Verna E. Parker. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Curtis Parker and James Owen Parker Jr. He attended public schools in Roanoke and graduated from Jefferson High School, where he was an outstanding football player. Leroy entered the United States Army
and served in the Vietnam War
. He was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
Those left to rejoice in his memory are his devoted wife and caregiver, Billie Parker; sons, Vincent (Whitney), and Bryant (Kimy), both of Roanoke, and Marcus (Andrea), of Laurel, Md.; three grandchildren, Isaiah, Alexis and Madison; sisters, Shirley (Gilmore) Perry, and Marion Wilkes (Elmer), both of Roanoke, and Vanessa Cooper (Clarence) and Marsha (Taylor) Via, both of Salem, Va.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Morning Star Baptist Church with the Dr. L.A. Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be held in Williams Memorial Park.
