Mildred A. Ransome , 70, of Hardy, made a sudden departure to be with the Lord Thursday, March 21, 2013. She was born July 9, 1942, to the late Ralph E. Titus and Genevieve Swope, of Georgetown, Md. She is preceded in death by her brother, Ralph E. Titus Jr., and survived by her sister, Linda Johnson, of Gaithersburg, Md. She leaves behind her loving husband of 40 years, William L. Ransome; four children, Wade Hardison, Lynn Hardison, William E. Ransome Jr., Brian Ransome; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
"Millie" was a loving mother, spouse and friend to many. She was also known as "Maw" and "Grandma Monkey" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a proud member of White Rock Baptist Church and loved to participate in many of the children's activities. She also enjoyed crocheting, joking around, bird-watching and taking care of her pets.
The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013. Funeral services will also be held at Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton, 11 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013. Officiating will be the Rev. Glen Stinnett.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to White Rock Baptist Church, P.O. Box 350, Hardy, VA 24101, in her honor.
