Nancy Virginia Hash Rhudy, 93 years young, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 19, 2013, in the Smyth County Community Hospital. Raising two daughters, Martha Kate and Sandra Sue, she and her husband, William Frank (Bill) spent all of their lives in the Smyth County area. In addition to her children, Nancy is survived by her 101 year old sister, Ethel Hash, of Johnson City, Tenn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nancy was always there to lend a helping hand, a glass of water to the man toiling while paving a driveway, cooking her special (from scratch) hot rolls and distributing them throughout the neighborhood or playing a prank by calling at midnight to sing "Happy Birthday."
One of 10 siblings, children of Andrew and Martha Hash Brown, Nancy was raised with a strong work ethic, was fiercely loyal to family and worried about leaving her children behind. "She laughed that worrying was part of the Hash DNA."
