Randolph William Kessler, 89, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 4, 2012. He was a Navy veteran of World War II
who served in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Kessler was retired from General Electric and was a member and former deacon at Oakland Baptist Church. He was born on October 13, 1923, in Botetourt County, a son of the late Mamie and William Kessler. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 62 years, Beulah Shay Kessler. He was a devoted father to his son, Michael (Nancy) Kessler; and daughter, Norma (John) Daugherty. He was adored by his grandchildren, Jimmy Kessler, Ashley Leonard, Dylan Goff, and Miranda Goff. He was blessed with his great- grandchildren, Allyson, Olivia and Johnathon Kessler. Also surviving are his sister, Virginia Basham, and brother, Charles Kessler.
Randolph was a generous man who spent his life sharing his kindness with others. His warm smile and loving heart will be greatly missed. His family's lives were deeply enriched by his example. The family would like to thank the staff on 2 West at the Virginia Veteran's Care Center for the care and compassion show during his stay. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Oakland Baptist Church, 3623 Roundhill Avenue, Roanoke, VA 24012.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, by Dr. Scotty Carpenter. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Mill Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Simpson Funeral Home. 540-366-0707.
