Mr. Thomas E. Gray, affectionately known as "Duck" by his friends and "Quack Quack" by his family members, 71, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy illness on Monday, November 12, 2012. He served in the United States Army
for three years and worked for the Roanoke City Housing Authority for many years. He also worked for Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for five years.
He was married to Sally Louise Jumper, and is survived by an adopted daughter, Lisa Jumper. He was preceded in death by his mother, Plumma Irene Gray. He leaves to mourn one uncle, William (Ruby) Gray; an aunt, Bessie Gray, of Roanoke; three brothers, John (Yvonne) Gray of Washington, D.C., Barry (Annie) Gray, of Roanoke, Lloyd (Barbara) Gray, of Miami, Fla.; one sister, Lorraine Clark, of Roanoke; a host of nieces, nephews cousins; special friends, Ronnie and Julie Laughlin; and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2012, at Serenity. The interment will follow in Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call at Serenity on Sunday, 2 to 8 p.m., for viewing. Arrangements by Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
