Winfred Thompson Obituary

Winfred Durward Thompson, 86, of Rocky Mount, Va., died on Sunday, July 4, 2010. He was born on September 22, 1923, a son of the late Oliver and Ada Mae Thomas Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean LaPrade Thompson; sister, Eloise Thompson Bowman; and brother, Oliver Thompson Jr. Surviving are his daughter, Rita Thompson Donahue and husband, Ronald; grandchildren, Kimberly Jeanette Donahue and Sarah Mae Donahue; sister, Louise Thompson; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, from Antioch Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Leah Harness officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Special thanks to all his caregivers who stayed with him and also to Franklin Health and Rehab for all the love, support and care. Memorial donations may be made to Antioch Church of the Brethren, 2996 Callaway Road, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Flora Funeral & Cremation Service, Rocky Mount, Va., 540-483-3835.
