Dorothy Welch Obituary

Dorothy Louise Sparks (Dot) Welch, 64, of Buchanan, Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 30, 2010. Dot was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church. Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Huander and Ida Mae Grubbs Sparks; sisters, Virginia Eubank, Shirley Sawyers, and Catherine Sparks; brothers, Paul Sparks, James Sparks, and David Sparks. Survivors include her husband of 41 years, James A. Welch Sr.; sons and daughters-in-law, James A. Welch Jr. and Brooke, of Goodview, Bobby L. Welch and Lisa, of Roanoke, and Larry Foscoe, of Covington; stepson and wife, Tommy and Becky Welch, of Goodview; six grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren; brothers, Archie (Teresa) Sparks, Raymond (Mary) Sparks; sisters, Elizabeth Barnes, Wanda (Larry) Wood, Stella (Leon) LeFlore, Dreama Myers, and Mary (Freddie) Hostetter; and sister-in-law, Sue Sparks. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2010, in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Shaff officiating. Interment will follow Springwood Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, Va., 540-254-3000.
