Louise Umberger Irvin

Louise Umberger Irvin, 93, of Wytheville, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Robert B. and Mary Sharpe Umberger, a member of Evergreen United Methodist Church, and a singer with the Homeland Trio for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Trigg Irvin; daughter, Nancy Carolyn Irvin; son, Derold C. Irvin; seven sisters, and two brothers. She is survived by her son and daughters-in-law, Reginald and Fleta Irvin, Evelyn Irvin Horton, all of Wytheville, Va.; sister, Jettie Porter of Wytheville, Va.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kenneth Irvin of Wytheville, Va., Odell and Janie Irvin of Manassas, Va., Hank Wills of Wytheville, Va., and Lena Umberger of Wytheville, Va.; grandchildren and spouses, Mike and Denise Nidiffer of Bristol, Tenn., Steve and Betty Irvin, Randy and Freida Irvin, and Myron and Melissa Irvin, all of Wytheville, Va.; special care givers, Ruby Matthews, Patsy Corvin, and Ruby Sawyers; seven great-grandsons; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 11 a.m. in Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Dr. Gary Houseman with the interment inRosewood Memorial Gardens, Rural Retreat. The family will receive friends at Grubb Funeral Home Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Evergreen UMC Cemetery Fund or the Evergreen Community Center. Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
