Nellie Pearl Webb Smelser

Nellie Pearl Webb (Peggy) Smelser, 82, of Wytheville, Va., passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Sampson and Rhetta Phibbs Webb. She was a longtime member of the Galilee Christian Church and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was preceded in death by one son, Danny Clay Smelser. She is survived by her husband, Homer D. Smelser, of Wytheville; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Craig Groseclose, of Cripple Creek; sons and daughters-in-law, Perry and Frances Smelser, and Casey and Kim Smelser, all of Wytheville; brother, Edmond Webb, of Galax; four grandchildren, Monica and Eddie Earhart, of Wytheville, Nathan Groseclose, of Cripple Creek, Luke Smelser and Adam Smelser, both of Wytheville; two greatgrandchildren, Blake Earhart and Leithan Smelser, both of Wytheville; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2010, in The Galilee Christian Church conducted by Mike Hall with the interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Grubb Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Southwest Virginia, 600 W. Ridge Road, Wytheville, Va. 24382. Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
