Stella Mae Howard Kozar

Stella Mae Howard Kozar, 81, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2010, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She is the daughter of the late Charlie and Nellie Howard. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Louis Kozar; granddaughter, Jessica Kozar; siblings, Earlie Rae, Charlie, Martha, Maxine, Shirley, and Sandra; and brothers-in-law, Steve and Charlie Kozar. She is survived by her sisters, Lucy and husband, George Hale, Melba Kozar, and Annie and husband, Richard Caldwell; daughters, Marsella and son-in-law, Wendell Graham, Carol and son-in-law, Jerry Sawyers, Alice and son-in-law, Jerry Cox; and sons, Aubrey and daughterin-law, Sandra Kozar, and Kenneth and daughter-in-law, Mary Kozar. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; her grandchildren, Faye, Karen, Chris, Jenna, Joshua, Mindi, Lucas, Victoria, Stephanie, Billy, Ben, Eric and Cindy; and seven great-grandchildren. Stella and her husband, Louis, ran a restaurant in Riner and then later opened "Stella's Restaurant" in Christiansburg. She then retired after years of service from the RAAP. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling to the beach, Georgia, Florida and spending time with her friends and family at Covey's Campground. She loved riding her dog "Suzie" on her golf cart, singing karaoke, flat footing, and crocheting. A special thank you to the ICU doctors and nurses who took care of her and were very supportive of the family during this difficult time. Also to Stella's dear friend, Mary Sisson, and many other friends who have watched over her. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Kingrea. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
