Mark was beloved by the entire family, especially the older ones who passed on so much family history to him before his untimely passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and it is our prayer that the memories you have of Mark will help you thru this difficult time.

Mark was special in many ways. My mother Maralouise Stribling was especially fond of Mark. She was so delighted that he took an interest in our family's history and shared his research. Debbi and I send our deepest sympathy especially to (Morgan) Steve and Donna as we are saddened at his untimely death.

To Mark's family and Friends, we have lost the companionship of a wonderful man! Mark was a gift to a lot of people in a lot of different ways. That awesome sense of humor will be missed, but so remembered. God now has you so gently folded into His protective arms. Marie Venice Cocoa, Fl.

I never knew Mark personally, but felt that I knew him through his loving partner David, who cherished him and their long term partnership. May he rest in peace and may David find solitude and strength in this most difficulty of times. Life alone is a hard existence, but life alone in the absence of one you've loved unconditionally is to exist with the memories you made that will be forever cherished. Rest in peace Mark and God be with you David.

Mark was my first real boss after I graduated from college. He impressed me with his mentorship and willingness to answer ALL of my questions, which were many. I learned so much from him and he has always held, and will continue to hold, a special place in my heart.

He was a great problem solver especially with my computer issues. More than than, he was approachable, personable and friendly. I will miss that. My heart goes out to his family in their time of loss.

He and I loved each other more than people know and alot of people knew how much we loved each other. I will always love him, He was the light of my life. whether it was making sure the torches were lit for the deck or wether the lights were on, on the christmas tree's (we had many) he made sure they were on. He will always be the light of my life.

Mark was an immensely gifted and compassionate person - a rare treasure. His piano playing, leadership, and friendship brought such joy to his church family. For decades his positive, giving nature has been a blessing to both Good Shepherd and Virginia Tech. His sudden passing is an immense loss for us all.

Thoughts and prayers are with you all...
To his parents -- who raised one of the finest men I have known. I can't imagine your loss.
To David -- The music of your soul will never be the same! I cannot imagine the ache.
To the Members and Friends of Good Shepherd -- he was such a pillar of love and support and deep joy to you all -- I cannot imagine the void.
"No love,
no friendship,
Hath ever crossed the path of our destiny
Without leaving some mark upon it ...
... forever."
"Thank you, Mark! You will be missed."
Peace to you all ... in time ...

I'm in complete shock in hearing this news. I knew Mark mostly from professional dealings, but it was more, he was a friend, always taking interest in my family. He was a kind, gentle and patient man. He cared deeply for his work and even more for his co-workers. He always put others before himself. Mark will be deeply missed by so many! I count myself lucky for knowing Mark. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family and friends.

This morning my heart was with Good Shepherd Church of the Brethren in Blacksburg as they worshipped for the first time since Mark’s death this week. As a former pastor there, I, and I know many others, deeply feel the great loss of such a generous, wise man of faith, an incredibly talented pianist, and a wonderful friend to so many. I learned much from Mark, and will always feel blessed to have known him. What light he brought into our world!
Into paradise, may the angels lead you, dearest Mark. With prayers and sympathy,

We are so saddened to hear of Mark's passing. He was such a great neighbor to our family, always had a cheerful hello, and was so helpful to those in need. There will be an emptiness that will be felt for a long, long time. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Our deepest sympathy goes to his family, and best friend, David.
