Percy Rhea Obituary

Percy McDill Rhea Sr., 87, of Roanoke, Va. and Lewisburg, Tenn., died peacefully at his home Tuesday, June 29, 2010. A native of Fayetteville, Tenn., he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ramona Rochell Rhea; parents, Felix Shelton Rhea and Lillie McDill Rhea; son, Percy McDill Rhea Jr.; brothers, Lawrence Rhea and Wilbur Rhea; sister, Katrina Rhea. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy. He was proprietor of Rhea's Shoe Store for 48½ years in Lewisburg, Tenn. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg, Tenn. He is survived by his son, Dr. Randall Rochell Rhea, of Roanoke, Va.; sister-in-law, Lois R. Ingram and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service followed by visitation will be held Thursday, July 1, 2010, at 6 p.m. in the Chapel at Second Presbyterian Church in Roanoke. L. Gerald Carter, CLP will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in Lewisburg, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Bradley Free Clinic, 1240 Third St., SW, Roanoke, Va. 24016. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel (540) 982-2100.
