Randall Wayne Pursley

Randall Wayne Pursley, 61, of Lexington, Va., died on Tuesday, July 6, 2010. Born on March 11, 1949, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Ralph Wayland Pursley and Elsie Mae Manspile Pursley. In addition to his parents, Randall was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda VanNess Pursley. Randall was a retired logger and sawyer and was presently the shop mechanic for W.R. Deacon & Sons. He attended and was very active at Rapps Mill Church and was a member of the Stonewall Brigade Camp #1296 Sons of Confederate Veterans. Surviving are one daughter, Amy Lynn Pursley (Jackie Kerr), of Fairfield; one son, Michael Wayne Pursley, of Lexington; one great-greataunt, Gladys Helms Pursley ,of Buchanan; two aunts, Rosa Lavinia Manspile Sorrells and Judy Marie Manspile Sorrells, both of Staunton; one sisterin-law, Sandy Deacon and husband, Delmas, of Lexington; two brothers-inlaw, Darrell VanNess, of Roanoke, and Reid VanNess, of Nashville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Rapps Mill Church with the Rev. Barton Hellmuth and Brother Bob Maas officiating. Burial will follow in the Rapps Mill Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
