Virginia Black Obituary

Virginia Rhodenizer (Sweet) Black, 84, of Lexington, Va., died on Saturday, June 5, 2010, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born on December 17, 1925, in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence John Rhodenizer and Mable Clara Robinson Rhodenizer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Henry Black. Surviving are two children, Lawrence Black and wife, Vickie, and Margaret Spencer and husband, Wayne; three brothers, Robert E. Rhodenizer, Herbert A. Rhodenizer, and Clifford O. Rhodenizer; five grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. Graveside Services will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Collierstown Presbyterian Church Cemetery followed by a memorial service at Collierstown United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Mitchell officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Collierstown United Methodist Church or Effinger Volunteer Fire Department.
