Janet Belle Wyrick

Janet Belle Wyrick, 75, of Salem, Va., passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2009. She was born on January 22, 1934, in Catawba, Va., and was the daughter of the late Robert Roy and Virgie Davis Crawford. She was a member of Daleville Baptist Church. She was retired from Roanoke County Public Schools as a manager in the cafeteria at Cave Spring Elementary School. She was also a member of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW. She loved her flowers and gardens. She was a loving mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Erie Lee Wyrick. She is survived by her children, Robert Erie Wyrick, Herbert Lynn Wyrick, and Vickie Guard and husband, Steve; two brothers, Delmer Crawford and wife, Sandra, and David Crawford and wife, Carol; sister, Faye Kessler and husband, Eugene; three grandchildren, Matthew, Stephanie, and David Guard; brothers-in-law, Leslie Wyrick and wife, Mary Ann, Alfred Wyrick and wife, Eleanor, and Garnet Wyrick and wife, Audrey; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of The Court of Roanoke, a special friend "Annie" at the Court, and Good Samaritan Hospice for their kindness and compassion during this time. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, in the chapel of John M. Oakey with the Reverend Andy Cobb officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, April 7, 2009, from 6 to 9 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem.
