Ronald Wayne Yopp Sr., 65, of Moneta, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family, his pastors, and several dear friends. Ronald graduated from Andrew Lewis High School and earned his degree in business and agriculture from Virginia Tech. He had 32 years of service with Southern States. Ronald enjoyed competition hunting with his son, Wayne, and was a member of the United Kennel Club, the American Kennel Club, and the Professional Kennel Club. He attended the Halesford Baptist Church of Moneta.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Andrew and Roxie Yopp; maternal grandparents, George and Mary Musselman; parents, Roy James and Margaret Ellen Yopp; and son, Ronald Wayne Yopp Jr. His surviving family includes his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Joyce Ann Yopp; daughter, Ellen Leigh Yopp; grandsons, Cameron Wayne Yopp and Daniel Wayne Yopp; sister, Valerie Allen and husband, Henry; maternal aunt, Louise Musselman; nephews, H.L. and Chris Allen; three great-nieces; two great-nephews; and numerous cousins.
He enjoyed life and easily put a smile on everyone's face with his jovial demeanor. He will be greatly missed. Those who love Ronald are at peace with him now being in Heaven, a special place prepared by his Heavenly Father for him.
A period of visitation will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Halesford Baptist Church at 2485 Lost Mountain Road in Wirtz. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 29, also at the church. It will be officiated by Pastor Melvin Harris and Pastor Tony Gray. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the Vitalize Church at 40 Periwinkle Road in Moneta, VA 24121.

I was so sorry to hear of Ronnie's death. My sympathy goes to all the family members and freinds of Ronnie. Ronnie was always cheerful and full of fun! He never seemed to let life's problems keep him from spreading good cheer to everyone he met. Ronnie was kind enough to take my son and I on a coon hunt and let my son shot the coon out of the tree. He was a great guy and all of us at Southern States will certainly miss his smile and good natured way of saying things. May we all visit him someday in heaven!
