Gladys Virginia Ramey Wolfe, 97, of the Elks National Home in Bedford, Va., died on Friday, June 11, 2010. She was born on a small family farm in Frederick County, Va., to Leslie Hammond Ramey and Ada Hoover Ramey. She lived in Frederick County until 1961, when, with her husband, Sloan Arnold Wolfe, she moved to Manassas, Va. In 1976, they moved to Bedford to retire. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Michael Leslie Wolfe; and her brothers, Carlton and Leslie Ramey and William Boyd Ramey Sr. She is survived by two sons, Col. (USAF Ret.) Lynn Ramey Wolfe, of Frederick County and The Villages, Fla., and Col. (USAF Ret.) David Riley Wolfe (Irene), of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Ann Wolfe Jackson (Zimmerman), of Bedford; and a daughter-in-law, Loretta Kissam Wolfe, of Daleville. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Gregory Lynn Wolfe (Rozaland), of Orlando, Fla., Z. Davis Jackson III, of Huddleston, Brenda Wolfe Edwards, of Ocala, Fla., Leslie Jackson Ferrell (Scott), of Jeffersonton, Michael Allen Wolfe (Jane), of Daleville, Deborah Wolfe Cooper (Todd), of Omaha, Neb., and Dr. Brian David Wolfe (Laura), of Philadelphia, Pa.; and nine great-grandchildren. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Bedford; the Willing Hands Circle, the Bedford Elks Lodge and The Blue Ridge Garden Club. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Main Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Les Trail officiating. Graveside Services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2010, at Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester with the Rev. David Forrest officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 212 East Main Street, Bedford, Va. 24523 or to the Elks National Home Special Care Unit, 931 Ashland Avenue, Bedford, Va. 24523.
