Albert Wright Obituary

Albert Johnson Wright, 81, of 1963 Three Otters Road, Bedford, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 4, 2010, from the Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 30, 1928, in Bedford, the son of the late Elmo Wright and Jenny Smith Wright. He was married to Margaret Reid Wright. Mr. Wright was retired from retired from General Electric as an Electronic Technician. He grew up working on the family dairy farm, upon graduation form high school he was employed with the Norfolk & Western Railroad as a telegraph operator and worked for Bedford Grocery. He was then drafted into the United States Army having served in Germany just after World War II as a Communications specialist. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting; a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Reid Wright, of Bedford; a son, John Wright and wife, Jane, of Hot Springs, Va.; two grandchildren, Bobby Wright and Sarah Wright, both of Hot Springs; two brothers, James C. Wright and wife, Irma, and Charles E. Wright and wife, Hazel, all of Bedford; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Betty and Charles Goodman, Jack and Norma Jean Reid, Louise Abbott, Catherine Virts, Reba Wright and Hazel Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews. Additional family includes Betty and Charles Goodman, Jack and Norma Reid, Catherine Virts and Louise Abbott. He was preceded in death by three brothers, William K. Wright, Walter W. Wright and Bobby G. Wright; two half brothers, Ashby Wright and Jack Wright; and four half sisters, Ruth W. Thompson, Sally W. Lewis, Maude W. Riley and Dorothy W. Link. A Memorial Service will be conducted at the Bedford Ebenezer United Methodist church at the end of July. Arrangements are being handled by McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home, Hot Springs, Va., 540-839-2961.
