Cecil Drake Crockett Jr.

Cecil Drake Crockett Jr., 81, of Salem, Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Mr. Crockett was a decorated Korean War veteran having served five years in the United States Navy. He was a charter member of the Fort Lewis Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service as well as a faithful member of the Christian Life International Church in Salem. Professionally, he retired from Kroger after 40 years of service. Preceding him in death were his parents, Cecil Drake Crockett Sr. and Ethel Reynolds Crockett; and brother, Eugene Leo Crockett. His surviving family includes his devoted wife of 55 years, Aline Crockett; son, Gary David Crockett; daughter, Karen Bradley and husband, Kent; granddaughter, Sara Bradley; brothers, Donald H. Crockett and wife, Mary, and Stephen S. Crockett and wife, Joyce; and sister, Louise Surratt and husband, Hubert. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 22, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, April 23, 2010, in the funeral home's chapel. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. The Rev.
