Charles Roland Hughes Jr.

Charles Hughes Obituary

Rev. Charles Roland (Buddy) Hughes Jr. died on April 14, 2010, in Decatur, Ga. He was a native of Roanoke, Va., and worked at the Roanoke Times in the 1950's. Hughes served as a missionary in Brazil, Mexico and Nicaragua. He also served a term as Latin America Secretary for the Presbyterian Church (USA) and was chaplain at Arkansas (now Lyon) College in Batesville, Ark. He is survived by his wife, Anne Fishwick Hughes; one sister, Peggy Johnson, of Roanoke, Va.; a brother, John Hughes, of Staunton, Va.; four children; and 12 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program, 100 Witherspoon St., Louisville, Ky. 40202.

Buddy came into our lives when we were newly weds and had potluck suppers for several couples that were very encouraging and helpful. We have now been married over 34yrs. What a treasure he was at Arkansas College.
