Cletis Jeffries Obituary

August 11, 1931 ~ April 5, 2010 In the early afternoon of Monday, April 5, 2010, Cletis M. Baker Jeffries' Jehovah God called her to enter into eternal rest. She was born in Roanoke, Va., to the late Gertrude Preston Baker and Dannie Branch Baker Sr. She was a graduate of Lucy Addison High School, Class of 1949. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Jeffries Sr.; and her daughter, Althea Jeffries Wright. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Caron B. Turner, of Roanoke, Va., Raymond Jeffries Jr. and wife, Sharlene, of Aurora, Colo., and Thomas Lee Jeffries and wife, Martha, of Roanoke; son-in-law, George D. Wright Sr., of Roanoke; grandchildren and spouses, Kevin L. (LaKesha) Baker, LeVita B. (Ronald) Washington, George D. (Melita) Wright Jr., Lori D. (André) Saunders, Derrick W. Turner, and Joseph T. Jeffries, all of Roanoke, Raymond D. Jeffries, of Texas, Michael Jeffries, Kanani Buggs, and Pualani Renee Jeffries, all of Colorado; 23 greatgrandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Gwinette and Christine Preston, of Rocky Mount, Va., and Danny B. Baker Jr., of Roanoke; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Rev. Clarence Johnson Jr., of Reidsville, N.C., and Veronica B. and Nelson Reed, of Roanoke, Va.; a devoted cousin, Barbara Henderson, of Roanoke; her former companion and long time friend, Benjamin H. Smith, of Philadelphia, Pa.; her devoted Witness friend, Gale Thomas; a host of loving cousins, family and friends; and her Jehovah Witness family. Honoring Cletis' wishes, she will be cremated. Flowers are acceptable at the hall. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, Cove Road with Greg Hinkle officiating. Cremation is being handled by Simpson Funeral Home, 5620 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke.
