Doris Simmons Altizer

Doris Simmons Altizer, 83, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2010. Doris was a wonderful wife, mom and grandma, she was also a member of the Christiansburg Church of the Brethren. She is survived by her husband, Sidney Monroe Altizer, of 55 years; son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Shirley Altizer, of Check, Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Ken Schulz, of Bristow, Va.; grandchildren, Cindy, Kenny, Jay Sidney, Sherry and Brandy; brother, Jimmy Simmons and wife, Betty, of Christiansburg, Va.; sister, Irene Simmons, of Riner, Va.; sister, Anna Mae Saunders and husband, Phil, of Christiansburg, Va.; sister, Dianne Addison, and husband, Claude, of Christiansburg, Va.; and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 16, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the Christiansburg Church of the Brethren with Pastor Don Peters officiating.
