Ernestine Ferguson Anderson, 86, of Bassett, died Sunday, December 4, 2011, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. She was born in Henry County August 17, 1925, the daughter of the late Willis Albert Ferguson and the late Viola Jones Ferguson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Anderson; son, Michael Anderson; and a brother Herman Ferguson. Ernestine was a graduate of Bassett High School, the Lewis Gale School of Nursing and a retired registered nurse from the Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. She was a faithful member of the Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren. Surviving include her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Mike Varner, of Floyd; son and daughter-in- law, Gordon and Donna Anderson, of Martinsville; five grandchildren, Amy V. (Eddie) Scott, Lisa V. (David) Pluska, Sara V. (Derrick) Method, Jamie (Cristin) Anderson, Joey Anderson and fiancÃ©e, Tiffany Wilson; two great- grandchildren, Lara and Jakob Pluska; brother-in-law, Floyd Anderson, of Sydnorsville; sisters-in-law, Mary V. Ferguson, of Collinsville, Mildred Anderson, of Rocky Mount, Lillian A. (Bob) Parcell, of Rocky Mount, and Buna Anderson, of Sydnorsville. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 6, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Noel Naff and Brother Mike Varner officiating with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Bassett Funeral Service is serving the family of Mrs. Anderson.
