Fonda Porter Obituary

Fonda Fern Porter, 70, of Radford, Va., went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 10, 2010. She was born on September 25, 1939, in Midland, Michigan to the late Rexford Adams and Cora Terry Hancock. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Gene Porter and brother, Jon Hancock. She retired as owner and manager of Famous Recipe Fried Chicken in Blacksburg, Va. where she was fondly referred to as "the Chicken Lady". She devoted her life to the well-being of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Jill Porter Bendik, of Ellicott City, Md., Jackie Porter McCollum, of Blacksburg, Va., Joy Porter Craig, of Radford, Va., and Jeffrey Todd Porter and wife, Jennifer Lee, of Radford, Va.; grandchildren, Brooke and Brittany McCollum, Austin Bendik, Carly and Jacob Porter, and Jessica Craig; and numerous other family and friends. A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Blacksburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Tommy McDearis and the Rev. (not a Dr.) Todd Millsaps officiating.
