Garland Creasey Obituary

Garland Deering Creasey Sr., 83, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Mr. Creasey was a former Virginian Railway employee and was a Norfolk Southern retiree with 41 years of service, a World War II and Korean War veteran, a member of Lakeland Lodge #190, and a former member of the Scottish Rite and Kazim Shrine Temple. He was preceded in death by his parents, Octo and Lucille Barbour Creasey; sister, Lucille Collier; and granddaughter, Ginni Creasey. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Creasey; brothers, James Creasey and Jewell Creasey; a sister, Sabrah Cobb, all of Sedley; children, Susan Tomlinson, of Big Island, Garland Creasey Jr., of Petersburg, Benjamin Creasey, of Roanoke, and Jill Reynolds, of Lovingston; stepchild, Loretta Quesenberry, of Roanoke; grandchildren, Darrell Robertson Jr., of Lynchburg, Amy Bass, of Campbell County, Bonnie Henley, of Mechanicsville, Ray Creasey and Michael Creasey, both of Petersburg, Laurie Creasey, of Goodview, Kellie Reynolds, of Roanoke, and Keefer Reynolds, of Lovingston; stepgrandchildren, Norma Grimstead, of Thaxton, and Donna Clark, of Roanoke; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Dr. Ken Scoggins officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 30, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 540-982-2221.
