November 2, 1933-December 7, 2012 Helen R. Alexander died peacefully at her home in Roanoke Friday, December 7, 2012. Helen was born and grew up in her hometown of Mooresville, N.C., and was a single child to her parents, Grover Lynn Robertson and Fodie Bell Alley.

Helen was married to her lifelong friend and loving husband, H. Arnold Alexander, for 58 years on their wedding anniversary June 5, 2012. Helen is a mother of six children, including twin boys who passed away soon after birth and three grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold Alexander, of Roanoke; oldest son, Anthony Alexander, and his three children, Julia, Anthony and Lydia, of Thomasville, N.C.; oldest daughter, Diane Johnson and her spouse, Roy Johnson, of Vinton; youngest son, Jeffrey Alexander, of Roanoke; youngest daughter, Tonya Agee and her spouse, Ron Agee, of New Castle.
Helen was devoted to her family. She lived her life based on her strong values and love for God. Helen will be remembered by her love for her husband and family, and her example to others.
A service will be held 2 p.m. Monday December 10, 2012, at Oakey's South Chapel located at 4257 Brambleton Avenue SW, Roanoke. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. before the service. The Rev. Pete Schemm and the Rev. John Rice will officiate.
Graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Centre Presbyterian Church in Davidson, N.C. The Rev. Robert M. Howard will officiate.
